THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF CORNWALL

By-law # 2009-067


      A By-law to appoint Melanie Belair as By-law Enforcement Officer for the Corporation of the City of Cornwall for the purpose of Enforcing the Fence By-law and Other Related By-laws




      WHEREAS Section 5 subsection 1 and 3 indicates that the powers of a municipality shall be exercised by its Council; and

      WHEREAS Section 10 subsection 2 of the Municipal Act 2001, provides that a municipality may pass By-laws respecting the health, safety and well-being to persons as well as enforcing structures, including fences and signs as well as business licensing; and,

      WHEREAS the Council wishes to appoint officers and servants as may be necessary for the purposes of enforcing its By-laws; and,

      WHEREAS the Corporation of the City of Cornwall is desirous of appointing Summer Employees for the enforcement of the Fence By-law and other related By-Laws.

      NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF CORNWALL ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

      1. That Melanie Belair be appointed as Municipal By-law Enforcement Officer for the Corporation of the City of Cornwall for the purpose of enforcing the Fence By-law and other related By-laws.

      2. That this By-law be in effect for the duration of the above employee's summer employment with the Corporation of the City of Cornwall from May 11th, 2009 to August 31st, 2009, inclusive, after which the By-law is hereby repealed.
